Public Lab is an online/inventor/activist/techno community where people can learn how to investigate environmental concerns using inexpensive, do-it-yourself (DIY) techniques. Once a month they host OpenHour, an interactive seminar hosted by the Public Lab Community both online and in person.
OpenHour will be hosted this coming Monday, February 1st at 1:00pm EST on theOpenHour page. The topic of this OpenHour is “Landfills: Mapping and Monitoring.” For this OpenHour we will be joined by:
– Nick Johnson, a Public Lab Organizer who has spent time working on landfill mapping around New York. You can see some of Nick’s work on http://www.lifeoftrash.com/and http://www.opentrashlab.com/.
– Pablo Rey is Public Lab Organizer who will be calling in from Spain! Pablo has done landfill mapping of the Saugus Landfill outside Boston. Pablo also works withhttp://basurama.org/ and has been drawing landfills on OpenStreetMap.
– Peter Anderson, President of RecycleWorlds Consulting, Executive Director of the Center for a Competitive Waste Industry, and Project Director for the multi-state Plastic Redesign Project. Peter has also studied landfill’s responsibility for greenhouse gases and climate change.
This will be an exciting event. Join us on the OpenHour page at 1:00pm EST on Monday to watch or join the live call!
