Interactive online seminar on “Landfills: Mapping and Monitoring”

Public Lab is an online/inventor/activist/techno community where people can learn how to investigate environmental concerns using inexpensive, do-it-yourself (DIY) techniques. Once a month they host OpenHour, an interactive seminar hosted by the Public Lab Community both online and in person.
OpenHour will be hosted this coming Monday, February 1st at 1:00pm EST on theOpenHour page. The topic of this OpenHour is “Landfills: Mapping and Monitoring.” For this OpenHour we will be joined by:

Nick Johnson, a Public Lab Organizer who has spent time working on landfill mapping around New York. You can see some of Nick’s work on


Pablo Rey is Public Lab Organizer who will be calling in from Spain! Pablo has done landfill mapping of the Saugus Landfill outside Boston. Pablo also works with  and has been drawing landfills on OpenStreetMap.
Peter AndersonPresident of RecycleWorlds Consulting, Executive Director of the Center for a Competitive Waste Industry, and Project Director for the multi-state Plastic Redesign Project.  Peter has also studied landfill’s responsibility for greenhouse gases and climate change.
